The weather condition is very important when you are on the road. One million in 6.2 million traffic accidents in a year are weather-related.

Fortunately, newer vehicles are now equipped with sophisticated technology solutions to help drivers navigate through a variety of weather conditions safely.

You have to think ahead about the various weather conditions you might meet and what to do when that happens.

Hit The Brake. Brakes can lock up on slippery surfaces, so it's best if your vehicle has an Anti-lock Brake System (ABS). With it, maximum brake pressure can be applied, and you wouldn't have to worry about locking.

Wheels. Traction Control Systems (TCS) would keep wheels from spinning on slippery surfaces. The technology would apply brakes to all the 4 wheels to prevent spinning. All-Speed Traction Control is the newest version of this technology, and it can give you the best acceleration on slippery roads by decreasing excess engine power.

The Straight and Narrow: You'll be in better control of your car if it has the Electronic Stability Program (ESP). This system keeps vehicles moving in the intended direction of travel by applying selective throttle and braking to the appropriate wheels to get the vehicle back on course. You'll really see its importance when driving on mixed surface conditions, like snow, sleet, ice, or gravel.

Roll. If you worry about vehicle rollover, the Electronic Roll Mitigation (ERM) is available. When the situation calls for it, ERM will bring a burst of full braking power to the appropriate wheel to stabilize the car.

With so many advances in technology, drivers must understand their car's safety and technology features.
